Price, Margaret Evans. A Visit to Santa Claus. Rochester, New York: Stecher Litho., 1916.
1st Edition. Stapled wraps. Folio 13" - 23" tall.
First edition of this Christmas story about Teddy Malleen, a little boy who travels to the North Pole in a "flying machine," color-illustrated by acclaimed artist Margaret Evans Price. This lovely 1916 children's Christmas book tells the story of a little boy who flies to the North Pole in a "flying machine" and helps Santa bring Christmas joy to other children. Written during World War I, the book would have had particular appeal to the little boys who looked at military aviators as heroes. The illustrations by Margaret Evans Price--the children's book illustrator and the first Art Director of the company she co-founded, Fisher-Price--are particularly notable for their beauty and vividness. Tiny spot of soiling to one page, a few tiny spots of rubbing to wrappers. A lovely near-fine copy.
